Everyone has heard of Duke Nukem Forever (DNF) right? The game that was in development for 12 years and then suddenly vanished into smoke. But enough about that. I’m not here to talk about delays, no, more importantly it’s what happened during that time.
DNF was known for switching many engines and undergoing countless graphic upgrades. It went from the Quake engine to the Unreal engine while also being subjected to massive overhauls in terms of visual fidelity. That’s not surprising, it took 12 years after all. So basically, the Duke Nukem Effect is what we coined for improvements to existing material that take place during the development phase, especially when they’re prioritized over the development of new things. But don’t worry, this VN won’t take 12 years. (I SHURE HOEP NOT)
Anyway, the blog today is mostly about showing off the various stages in our visuals that we’ve advanced through. I can’t talk anything about the script because rewriting has always been part of the job, that can’t be helped. But when the artist suddenly levels up, gaining new skill sets and getting upgrades for existing ones, and realizes he has to redraw all the sprites/cgs, that’s a different matter altogether.
Enough talk. Take a gander at these pictures below.

lololol
now that is quite terrifying….
something that always happen with manga too
the drawings at the start is always a bit immature and rough than the smooth, good looking drawings near the end
